I finally made it to the Krispy Kreme Challenge on the crisp, cool morning of February 4. I ran 2.5 miles from NC State's bell tower to Krispy Kreme. I got there, got my box of donuts and started cramming them down. I had to eat all 12! I was walking around in the largest crowd of people I had ever been in in my entire life. To my surprise, Krispy Kreme had run out of water! Out of water?! WHAT?! Are you kidding me?! I was beyond livid. I mean how dangerous is that -- extremely dangerous! I ate seven donuts, and could just not eat any more. I needed some water. So, I threw my donuts down and continued on to complete the Challenge. I ran 2.5 more miles to the finish line. After crossing the finish line, guess what? No water?! Out of water again!
This was the 8th year this race has been "organized" or in my perspective, the whole race from beginning to end was extreme disorganized chaos. Needless to say, if this race has been going on for eight years, you would think the race organizers would know how much water to have. This was the type of race where you actually had to register, so the "organizers" actually already knew exactly how many participants there were going to be -- which was almost 8,000!
I am happy to say that my race registration fee was donated to the UNC Childrens Hospital! Hopefully the money actually gets to the Hosptial, but who knows with these race "organizers"
